Tasting Notes:
tasted: November 22, 2006 , from a member
90 points "Color: dark; Finish: persistent; I think it lived up to its ratings, but I had too much of a cold to really appreciate this wine. It was the most promising at recent wine tasting, and the most expensive."
rated: November 6, 2006 , Distributor's notes at wine tasting
"The vineyards of Sangiovese Grosso grapes used in Brunello surround the beautiful (aren't they all) hilltown of Montalcino in eastern Tuscany. The grapes were harvested by hand to guarantee only ripe fruit. After stainless steel fermentation, the wine was aged for 26 months in large (660 gallon) oak casks, followed by 6 months in smaller French oak barrels, then 12 months in stainless steel tanks, and finally for 4 months in bottle before release, all to assure a silky, velvety red wine of complexity and length of flavor. In Florence and Siena, Brunello is a perfect accompaniment for the local steak, but also with veal and wild boar."
