"Good deep ruby. Blackberry and licorice on the subdued nose. Rather inexpressive today but already displays a wonderfully lush texture and a deep minerality that reminded me of a Saint-Emilion from the c o tes The building, serious tannins come across as less sweet than those of the 2007 Maya bottling, and this wine will also require time to integrate its oak. (92-94)."

"The 2000 Maya (a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Cabernet Franc) is a medium-weight, elegant effort displaying spice box, incense, loamy soil, dried herb, creme de cassis, and smoky oak characteristics. Medium-bodied, lovely, and forward, it will drink well for 8-12 years. Barrel Tasting 94-96 pts Parker: Notes of melted licorice intermixed with creme de cassis, espresso, and roasted herbs jump from the glass of the profound 2000 Maya. It is a wine of elegance, complexity, great balance as well as intensity, and low acidity. It will drink surprisingly well young. It is a brilliant effort for this difficult year. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2020.
