"Spirit Writings July 2007 2006 Domaine de Pouy (Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne) Pouy is a tried and true Spiritus classic. This gem from Gascogne has frequented our shelves for many a vintage and it is time for us to send you a note to inform you that the fresh 2006 has just arrived here at the shop! I'm afraid the secret is out on this one though as Robert Parker is now hyping it on his website with glowing words including these: "If Domaine de Pouy isn't one of the finest white values in the world... then I will show up in public with a glass of V8". Why is Pouy such a great wine that makes one of our country's top wine critics talk nonsense about drinking V8? The Grassa family confused their neighbors a few years back by deciding to bottle crisp, fresh, still wine from their vineyards of ugni blanc instead of making dessert wines or the regio n's beloved armagnac. Does Pouy taste like armagnac? No! Just the opposite. It is brisk, briney, and bursting with citrus fruit. Tastes great with the hot weather on our hands and can even cut through the spice of Thai food. (NNC)"
