93 points "The 2005 Syrahs are slightly more linear and European-styled than the 2004 in terms of weight and elegance. They reflect the cooler, higher acid, more restrained alcohol vintage, and are in complete contrast to the flamboyant, intense, heady 2004s. My favorite of this group is the 2005 Syrah James Berry Vineyard. The vibrancy that comes from these limestone soils, the extraordinary density of blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with licorice, tar, pepper, and crushed rock, and the wine’s fresh, tannic, vibrant, delineated personality suggest this amazing Syrah should drink well for 10-15 years. " Best 2006-2021
