Tasting Notes:
rated: December 27, 2012 , Wine Spectator winespectator.com
95 points "Gorgeous aromas, plump and generous, lead to ripe, rich, juicy plum and black cherry flavors that show touches of cedar, fresh earth, black licorice and spice. Gains momentum and finesse, with a long, subtle, detailed finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot."

96 points "The 2009 Ovid is a gorgeous, radiant wine endowed with expressive character. Here the higher percentage of Cabernet Franc (30%) in the final blend comes through in the warm, spicy notes of the bouquet. The 2009 boasts striking inner perfume, great intensity and fabulous overall balance in a dazzling, pure expression of fruit. Layers of fruit build effortlessly to the finish. The 2009 started to shut down in the glass, a great sign for the future. There is no shortage of structure here. The 2009 Ovid is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029." Best 2017-2025

97 points "With a beautiful purple color, this wine quickly exhibits classic Cabernet aromas of black currants and cedar. In the mouth, it’s full bodied and concentrated, showing powerful, sweet blackberry fruit. It’s incredibly refined, impressively structured, massive, impeccable and frankly delicious. This should develop over the next 20 years, at least." Best 2015-2029

95 points "(cabernet sauvignon with 30% cabernet franc, 8% merlot and 4% petit verdot): Dark ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, cassis, shoe polish, minerals, menthol and dusty earth. Suave and claret-like, even a bit strict in the early going, conveying a strong crushed stone character that gives the wine a powerful spine. Tightly wound and youthfully clenched, but already showing considerable personality. Lay this down." Best 2017-
