"This was the most difficult of the new crop of Clonakilla releases to rate. It’s a blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot.
The most substantial aspects of this wine come in the form of blackcurrant, boysenberry and violet-like flavour, all of which present as eminently attractive. Dusty, ashen, tobacco-like notes add complexity, but also seem to rob it of its irresistible force, and attraction. It’s all within varietal boundaries of course and as is the Clonakilla way, texture is again a feature. Watching this evolve should be intriguing."
