94 points "2011 Stefano Lubiana Primavera Pinot Noir $30 CD “Excellent clarity and depth to its crimson-purple colour; the bouquet has dark berry fruit with an exotic touch of fruit spice; the palate is supple, smooth and even, with black cherry, plum and a continuation of the spice of the bouquet. It spent 10 months in French oak, most, if not all, used. Alcohol: 13.5% Rating: 94 Drink By: 2020 Date Tasted: 20 Mar 2013.” James Halliday 2014 James Halliday Australian Wine Companion July 11th 2013 “This is one of those pinots you just want to drink and drink. Charming wine from go to whoa. Sweet fruited but sappy, generous but savoury. Good amount of both tannin and acid but it’s open for business and ready to rip. Plum and cherry and a whisker of Turkish delight. Crushed dry leaves. Cloves. Gummy, velvety tannin. A class act. Rated: 91 points. Drink: 2012 – 2015.” Campbell Mattinson The WineFront October 30th 2012 “The junior pinot from Lubiana is a terrific entry point to Tasmania’s wonderful offering, showing a lovely, ripe plum and cherry fruit core, plenty of depth here, light spice and some bracken too. The palate has deep dark berry flavour, smooth tannins, good weight, and a velvet-like, fragrant finish. Drink now. Score 92.” Rating: “This is where serious quality starts to kick in. Greater concentration and purity, superior in every aspect.” Nick Stock The Age Sydney Morning Herald Good Wine Guide 2013 Published October 29th 2012 “Pinot fans will lap up this Tassie offering. It is finely structured and even a touch understated, but a pleasure to drink. The first thing you notice are the musk and floral aromas, which lead you straight to the juicy-red- berry flavours – cherries and strawberries – all very balanced and poised It has that velvety texture on the tongue that a good pinot should have, and ‘sneaky’ length from such a feminine structure. Yep, pinot fans will be happy with this.” Rick Allen The Manly Daily October 26th 2012 “Easy drinking, bistro wine, perfumed with a light-medium bodied core of glossy black cherry and plum fruit with some spice and forest floor notes, toasty cinnamon-marzipan oak with fine tannins. Drink: 2014 (***1/2).” Graham Hastings http://www.genxywines.com August 2012 “I look forward to every vintage with glee as a new opportunity to experiment,” Steve Lubiana told me. 2011 was a cool, grey season in southern Tassie, but it didn’t rain nearly as much as everywhere else, resulting in the cleanest fruit for a few years at Stefano. The wine delivers all the purity and definition of black cherry, blackberry and anise with notes of savoury herbs and brambles, underpinned by fine yet firm and silky tannins. Drink: 2013-2015. 93 pts.” Tyson Stelzer www.tysonstelzer.com Accessed August 12th 2012 “Very inviting dark cherry aromas and a light to mid-weight palate of delicious fruit purity, balance, harmony and juicy drinkability with glacéed cherry flavours and hints of spice running through to a slip-down finish that’s soft, long and pleasingly more-ish. In its range of flavours, Pinot Noir time and time again proves itself as the most versatile food wine of all red wines... with a wide range of things from terrines, rillettes, and antipasti to salmon and tuna steaks off the barbecue, grilled marinated quail, veal saltimbocca, and duck just about any which way...” Graeme Phillips The Sunday Tasmanian June 10th 2012 " Best 2013-
