"This wine is a good, even complex Pouilly-Fuisse that has aromas of spice and butterscotch, plus ample flavors of apple and pear. Well-balanced and clean tasting. André Besson produces about 4,000 cases of Pouilly Fuissé per year. This Pouilly-Fuissé carries the designation “Domaine de Pouilly,” which is appropriate given the fact that Besson owns vineyard parcels in some of the best sites in both Pouilly and Solutré. The wines are vinified in a combination of oak and steel tank, and the ensuing elevage takes place entirely in small barrels. Bottling takes place just before the following harvest. The wines are traditional for the appellation, round but firm, richly flavored, with the characteristic notes of lanolin, apples and honeysuckle. Never heavy or oaky, these wines impress above all with their balance, focus and intensity."
