4 stars
"Color: dark; Nose: complex; Aromas: black berry; Acidity: supple; Sweetness: dry; Body: full-bodied; Finish: persistent; Overall: pleasant; Quite a heavyweight, as suited the richness of the pie. Dark berries on the nose, with a touch of smokiness. Flavour showed some raspberries, but different from the pinot noir grape, and there was an underlying smokiness. Long finish. The problem I had with this wine is that it seems characterless: possibly the 14.5% overwhelmed any feeling of terroir. Perfectly drinkable, but not memorable."
